It was a bright, beautiful morning in the University of Wisconsin Arboretum today. In addition to the blossoming magnolia trees, plenty of feathered friends were on hand for entertainment. A pair of common tree swallows were busy ferrying twigs and grass into their summer home.

Whenever the swallows were away, sparrows and bluebirds would stop to check the place out. A cardinal paused briefly for a photo.

Nearby, a red-tailed hawk returned to his nest carrying a fresh kill.

  • Especially enjoyed the photo of the Cardinal; I don’t often have the opportunity to see one up close.
